FlightSafety operates the world's largest fleet of advanced full-flight simulators and award-winning maintenance training at Learning Centers and training locations in the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom.
Purpose of Position
The Software Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and identifying improvements by planning, implementing, and monitoring software framework solutions.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RESTful APIs and web services using Node.js, Express, and MongoDB.
  • Build responsive front-end interfaces using React.js and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
  • Participate in system design discussions and translate requirements into well-structured technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on new features, architectural improvements, and performance optimizations.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to guide modernization efforts and product scalability.
  • Integrate with internal and third-party systems, ensuring secure and reliable data exchange.
  • Diagnose and resolve application issues through root-cause analysis and efficient troubleshooting.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Contribute to code reviews, testing automation, and documentation.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support for production deployments or critical system issues.
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively and communicate progress clearly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel when required

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience

Minimum Experience
  • 2+ years of professional experience in software development
  • 1+ years working with the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and modern web standards
  • Experience with React.js, hooks, and state management libraries (Redux, Zustand, or Context API)
  • Backend experience with Node.js, Express, and MongoDB
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, GraphQL, or similar service models
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization best practices (JWT, OAuth, SSO)
  • Experience using Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps for version control and collaboration
  • Familiarity with Docker or containerized deployments preferred
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit/integration tests (Jest, Vite, Cypress, etc.)
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and agile workflows
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
