Job description

Description:

FSM Group is looking for a Painter for our Aviation Equipment Refurbishment shop located minutes away from Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport at 4820 Clark Howell Highway. In addition to aviation equipment painting, FSM Group has a robust maintenance shop that performs daily repairs and pm's on fueling equipment and catering trucks for aircraft carriers based at ATL airport.

Responsibilities:

  • Spray paint metal, composite and plastic structures in a controlled environment.
  • Mix paints and primers to manufactures specifications.
  • Masks surfaces per drawing requirements and or requirements.
  • Prepares surfaces per documentation, includes sanding, cleaning and media blasting as required.
  • Cleans, spray equipment, and maintains paint booth and curing ovens.
  • Performs in-process inspection, documents result, maintains records, and prepares reports.
  • Maintain full compliance with company policy and safety requirements.
  • Clean, prep, mask and wipe down equipment before painting.
  • Paint equipment to proper specifications and quality.
  • Assemble equipment and put together if needed.
  • Keep inventory of paint, thinners, and hardware used in assembly.
  • Perform other production tasks in the main fabrication area when needed.
  • Paint industrial equipment with different types of use and maintain HVLP and conventional paint equipment.
  • Sets spray parameters according to part instructions.
  • Performs responsibilities to meet requirements of internal and external customers.

Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Minimum of age 18 or over.
  • Ability to reliably commute to work.
  • Ability to drive a forklift to move equipment to and from paint area.
  • Understands paint spray technique and can lay down paint evenly and smoothly (without runs or voids)
  • Understands how to operate and use the paint booth, humidity control and drying times/cure rates and control appropriately during the painting process.
  • Understands proper spray techniques and spray gun maintenance.
  • Shall be able to read and interpret paint specifications proficiently. Shall have knowledge of different paint systems, such as enamels, polyurethane, epoxies and lacquers.
  • Work in a team or solo environment.
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuously stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms above shoulder height; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist, and work in limited space.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
