Job description

STS Technical Services is seeking experienced Aircraft Painters to support aircraft refinishing and coating operations in Lafayette, Louisiana. This role is built for technicians who understand surface prep, paint systems, and the discipline required to deliver a clean, compliant finish every time.
You will work under the direction of Lead and Senior Painters, supporting all phases of the aircraft painting process. Prep, mask, spray, cure, document. Then do it again without cutting corners.
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform assigned duties under the direction of the Hangar Manager, Lead Painter, or Senior Painter
  • Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting through sanding, media blasting, chemical stripping, and solvent cleaning
  • Assist with masking for paint schemes, decals, and aircraft markings
  • Identify and select appropriate paint types and colors based on work order specifications
  • Mix and prepare paint materials for application
  • Apply paint and coatings to aircraft and components in accordance with required standards
  • Support curing and drying processes, including moving components to designated areas
  • Clean, maintain, and perform minor repairs on spray equipment
  • Accurately complete work order documentation, including time and materials used
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
  • Follow all safety procedures and support Safety Management System requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Prior aircraft painting experience on commercial, corporate, or general aviation aircraft required
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation and paint application techniques
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and specifications
  • Experience working with paint systems, coatings, and application equipment
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented hangar environment

Work Environment
  • Hangar-based environment with exposure to paint fumes, chemicals, and equipment
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment required
  • Standing, bending, and working on elevated platforms may be required
