Job description

Job Summary

The Manager, Aviation Services leads the enterprise aviation services and coordination function, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality aviation travel in support of Southern Company business needs. This role is responsible for aviation service delivery, centralized coordination and scheduling oversight, customer experience management, aviation analytics and reporting, and leadership of the aviation coordination team.
The position serves as a trusted interface with senior leaders and their administrative partners, providing decision support, service consistency, and operational confidence. While a strong understanding of aviation coordination and dispatch principles is required, the role is intentionally focused on leadership, service outcomes, and enterprise integration rather than individual dispatch execution. The Manager, Aviation Services reports to the Director, Aerial Services.

Job Description Aviation Services Leadership & Customer Experience
  • Own and lead the delivery of aviation services to ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience across the enterprise.
  • Serve as a primary aviation point of contact for senior leaders and executive assistants, providing coordination support, guidance, and issue resolution.
  • Establish service standards, communication expectations, and escalation protocols for aviation travel.
  • Ensure aviation services are delivered in a manner that reflects professionalism, discretion, and customer confidence.
Aviation Coordination & Team Leadership
  • Lead and develop the aviation coordination team responsible for centralized scheduling and trip execution.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of aviation coordination activities, including prioritization, workflow management, and operational readiness.
  • Establish standards and processes to ensure coordination activities are executed in accordance with company policy and the General Operations Manual (GOM).
  • Maintain situational awareness of daily flight activity in order to support timely decisions and effective issue resolution.
Decision Support, Risk Awareness & Enterprise Interface
  • Support aviation travel decision-making, including routing, aircraft utilization, and service tradeoffs.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., security, compliance, finance, tax, and leadership support teams) to ensure aviation travel aligns with enterprise expectations.
  • Ensure appropriate consideration of travel risk and special circumstances associated with aviation travel.
Analytics, Reporting & Administrative Oversight
  • Oversee aviation data collection, record-keeping, and reporting related to flight activity, utilization, and service delivery.
  • Support preparation of aviation-related reports and information used for business, financial, and regulatory purposes.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of aviation data provided to internal stakeholders.
  • Perform additional administrative and analytical duties as assigned by the Director, Aerial Services.
Safety, Compliance & Professional Standards
  • Participate in and actively support the Safety Management System (SMS) and IS-BAO standards.
  • Ensure aviation services and coordination activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, safety expectations, and company policy.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in aviation services, coordination, or other highly regulated operational environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of aviation scheduling, coordination, and dispatch principles.
  • Experience leading teams responsible for operational service delivery, coordination, or customer support.
  • Ability to work directly with senior leaders and manage confidential, time-sensitive activities.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Proficiency with aviation, business, and office software applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate (preferred).
  • Experience supporting Part 91 and/or Part 91K flight operations.
  • Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) certification.
  • Experience supporting corporate or enterprise aviation programs.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Aviation Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field), or equivalent aviation operations experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work Location & Schedule
  • Based at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK), Atlanta, Georgia.
  • Hybrid work model: approximately 75% on-site / 25% remote.
  • Flexible schedule availability required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel.
