Founded in 1980, Hillsboro Aviation offers complete helicopter and airplane services comprised of five divisions: contract & charter, aircraft sales & management, service center, FBO, and parts sales. Serving domestic and international markets in the government, commercial, and private sectors, we have over 85 employees and 10 turbine aircraft. We operate out of our award-winning headquarters at the Portland-Hillsboro Airport (KHIO).

The Position

As a Payroll Specialist, you will work closely with the Accounting team to process biweekly payroll and maintain compliance within Drug Abatement and HR. You will report to the Controller and will be responsible for the following, including but not limited to:

  • Processing biweekly payroll, including confirming manager approvals on timecards and rates
  • Managing the Drug Abatement Program to the standards set by the FAA/DOT
  • Employee life cycle management and benefit administration

Ideal candidates are engaging, energetic, and driven; can work independently within his/her areas of responsibilities under limited supervision; value a strong work ethic and optimistic attitude; maintain a critical eye for detail and organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Processes biweekly payroll, including confirming manager approvals on timecards and rates
  • Manage the Drug Abatement Program to the standards set by the FAA/DOT
  • Benefits administration
  • Employee life cycle management including creating and managing job postings, creating and sending offer letters, onboarding, employee relations and communication
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EEO and others
  • Maintaining HR/Payroll systems and records
  • Other HR-related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Payroll experience
  • ADP experience

Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Experience in the aviation industry
