Job description

We are a growing, mid-sized commercial general contractor specializing in high-visibility, fast-paced commercial buildouts across the East Coast. Our core expertise lies in aviation/airport spaces (concessions, lounges, terminal upgrades) and retail construction (flagships, tenant fit-outs, and specialty retail).

We pride ourselves on technical precision, strong subcontractor relationships, and leveraging modern construction technology to deliver complex projects on schedule and under budget.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator based on the East Coast to prepare construction bids for our airport and retail projects.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the preconstruction process from initial RFP through final bid submission. You will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, architects, and client representatives to ensure detailed, competitive, and accurate estimates for high-stakes commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Bid Preparation & Takeoffs: Perform complete and accurate scope takeoffs and obtain pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Procore Management: Utilize Procore (Estimating/Preconstruction tools) to organize bid packages, track subcontractor communications, post RFIs, and manage project cost data.

  • Subcontractor Relations: Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor bids to ensure complete scope coverage. Maintain and build a list of qualified subcontractors and material suppliers.

  • Client & Design Team Collaboration: Participate in value engineering sessions, budget presentations, and scope alignment meetings with project owners, airport authorities, and retail clients.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 4+ years of proven estimating experience in commercial general contracting.

  • Sector Expertise: Prior experience estimating restaurant / retail buildouts or airport/aviation facilities is required.

  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Procore is preferred, however training is available. Proficiency in digital takeoff tools (e.g., PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar) and advanced Excel skills also preferred.

  • Location: Must reside on the East Coast, USA (proximity to major airports is a plus).

  • Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with local building codes, trade scopes, and construction sequencing.

  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to lead trade walk-throughs and client pitch meetings.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Base Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 (commensurate with experience)

  • Performance Bonuses: Bi-annual performance and project profitability bonus structure.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance options.

  • Retirement: 401(k) with company match.

  • Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid/remote work options for East Coast candidates, with occasional travel for site visits or pre-bid walkthroughs.

  • Equipment & Tech: Company-provided laptop, phone/travel allowance, and full software subscriptions.
