Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Chief Inspector & Senior Aviation Maintenance Technician at our Mesa, AZ location. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring all maintenance and modification activities conducted by Garmin's Part 145 Aircraft Repair Station meet company, industry, and FAA requirements and, if authorized, may act as an ODA Inspection Unit Member to conduct conformity inspections for FAA tests and issue airworthiness certificates for flight test aircraft.
Essential Functions
  • Direct, plan and implement inspection standards, methods and procedures used by the Aircraft Repair Station in compliance with applicable FAA Regulations, manufacturer's specifications and recommendations
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and training to ensure that all work and inspections are properly performed and that the proper records, reports and forms used by the Aircraft Repair Station are properly executed
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and training to ensure company aircraft, maintenance associates, shop, paperwork and procedures are in compliance with all FAA regulations
  • Coordinate and maintain records for periodic checks of all inspection tools and the calibration of precision test equipment used by the Aircraft Repair Station
  • Lead, plan and implement training programs in accordance with Part 145 requirements
  • Responsible for ascertaining that maintenance records are properly maintained and retrievable
  • Accomplish the final acceptance of all incoming material, including new parts, supplies and the airworthiness of articles on which work has been performed outside the Aircraft Repair Station by contract
  • Conduct part and installation company conformity inspections in support of certification testing
  • Conduct duties associated with ODA Inspection Unit Member Authorization
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance and modifications of company aircraft
  • Work with Engineering department to develop aircraft installations of company products

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience maintaining general aviation light aircraft, business aircraft, and helicopters
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing Chief Inspector/Quality Assurance/Airworthiness Conformity functions similar to the essential functions of this job description
  • Must demonstrate proficient knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 39, 43, 45, 61, 91, 121, 135
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products
  • FAA A&P Certificate

Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an ODA Inspection UM or FAA DMIR/DAR
  • FAA IA Certificate Experience
  • Prior avionics installation experience
