Landscape Crew Hand

Location: 504 Farmer Street, Plymouth, MI 48170

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Pay Period: Bi-Weekly

Landscape Season Hourly Compensation: $15.00 - $19.00 Per Hour

Landscape Season Max Bonus Availability: 5% ($1,140 - $1,444)

Landscape Season Average Salary Compensation: $23,940 - $30,324

Winter Season Hourly Compensation: $18.00 - $22.80 Per Hour

Winter Season Max Bonus Availability: 5% ($270 - $342)

Winter Season Average Salary Compensation: $5,670 - $7,182

Average Yearly Salary Compensation: $29,610 - $37,506

Reports To: Landscape Foreman & Field Supervisor

Position Overview

As Crew Hand or General Labor, you will be required to be a reliable hardworking individual that will assists in various tasks related to grounds maintenance, plant care, and overall landscape beautification. You will be required to have physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Mowing lawns using various types of mowers.
  • Trimming and edging lawns and around walkways.
  • Raking and disposing of leaves and debris.
  • Watering plants and grass as needed.
  • Planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and other greenery.
  • Pruning and trimming plants to maintain shape and health.
  • Applying fertilizers and other treatments as directed.
  • Assisting with the installation of landscape features such as walkways, patios, and irrigation systems.
  • Spreading mulch or gravel in designated areas.
  • Placing and securing landscape elements like rocks or decorative items.
  • Inspecting and repairing irrigation systems.
  • Adjusting sprinkler heads to ensure proper coverage.
  • Monitoring water usage and reporting issues.
  • Cleaning and maintaining hardscape features like stone paths or retaining walls.
  • Repairs to damaged or worn hardscape elements.
  • Operating and maintaining landscaping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and blowers.
  • Ensuring equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
  • Identifying and removing weeds from landscaped areas.
  • Applying weed control treatments as necessary.
  • Adhering to safety guidelines and using personal protective equipment.
  • Keeping work areas clean and organized.
  • Working closely with other members of the landscaping team.
  • Following instructions from supervisors and coordinating tasks.
  • Interacting professionally with clients or property owners when necessary.
  • Communicating any issues or concerns to supervisors.
  • Adjusting tasks based on seasonal needs (e.g., snow removal in winter).
  • Assisting with planting and preparation during planting seasons.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires good manual dexterity.
  • Excellent stamina is required.
  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
  • Work outdoors in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, snow, and cold.
