Critical Care Physician

Our client in Northern California is currently seeking locums Critical Care Physician to join their facility.

Requirements:

  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Critical Care Medicine
  • CA license required

Practice Details:

  • Shift Schedule: 6a- 6p
  • Average Patient Encounters per day:
    • 24-30 total patients per day (24-hour period)
    • 4-8 night encounters on average
  • Number of Intensivist in program: 6 Full Time, 3 Part Time, no mid levels
  • ICU's Represented: Medical ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Neuro ICU, Trauma ICU is seen by Trauma Surgeon.
  • Intensivist will not see patients in all the ICU's. Intensivists see about 90% of medical/neuro patients.
  • Program does not have a call. They are 24/7 in-house coverage.
  • There is a hospitalist group in-house.
  • Intensivists do not participate in Rapid Response but they are involved in Code Blues.
  • Intensivists respond to codes on the floor.
  • Common Procedures: Intubation, Bronchoscopy, Thoracentesis, chest tubes, central lines, A Lines, lumbar punctures, paracentesis, ECMO management, Neurocritical Care experience, (standard ICU procedures required:  vents, intubations, para and thoracentesis)
  • Intensivists accept inpatient transfers with conditions that case is discussed with the specialist who also agrees to manage.  ER-ER transfers are accepted by the ER physician.  Patients are transferred out once stable for continuation of care. Intensivist determines when they are stable.
