Job description

Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, thisstate-of-the-artacute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers services in a wide variety of specialties to meet community needs.You'llbe supported as you follow your dreams and find where you belong, here at Tradition Hospital.

Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist andare responsible forpreparing patients for the exam,movingand instructing the patient into the proper position, correctlyoperatingthe equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonanceimagingand nuclear medicine.

APRNcaregiver in this position worksvarying days and hours.Schedules will be provided a month in advance to confirm availability for open shifts.PRN caregivers in this role average approximately 20 hours/week.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to detect pathology. Procedures may include routine radiology examinations, motion-free exams, portable/bedside examinations,fluoroscopyand invasive exams, OR and EDproceduresand bone density procedures (DEXA).

  • Regulate andoperateequipment.

  • Review prep information with patients, explain theprocedureand obtain written consent.

  • Documentpertinent clinical patient information, such as medical history and allergies.

  • Demonstrate a calm and understanding approach to ease any fear or anxiety.

  • Transport patients to and from the department/their room and contact nurses about patients who are connected to devices or monitors.

  • Interact,communicateand collaborate with nursing caregivers to obtain signed consent forms,assistwith exams andprepanddeterminethe length of time the patient will be in the department.

  • Check written orders from physicians before the procedure and document in the chart after the procedure.

  • Report any equipment problems, safetyissuesor patient complaints.

  • Supplyareawith thenecessary itemsto perform daily tasks and functions.

  • Orient new personnel andassistin their transition to the work environment as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accreditedRadiology program

  • Registered Technologist credentialed by TheAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R)

  • Florida licenseas a General Radiographer (RAD)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • Knowledge of federal and stateregulatories

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Twoyears of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires a mixture of moderate to heavy work as defined in the Employee Health Services Policy.
  • Physical requirements include frequent walking, sitting and standing.
  • Frequent use of the phone, computer and fax machines.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests and to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.
  • Special Demands: Needs minimal sustained direction in assessing needs, carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities; self-starting and self-motivating; working hours may exceed eight (8) hours per day and is based on what is needed to accomplish work at hand.
  • Confidentiality: Has limited access to the medical record for the purpose of verifying orders in the charts or prescription and to sign off after exam completion.
  • In addition, in this position the employee will be limit the PHI disclosed or requested to the amount reasonable necessary to achieve the purpose of the request.
  • The disclosures or requests that occur on a routine or recurring basis include every patient's orders need to be verified prior to the exam.
  • The employee makes these disclosures for the purpose of making sure that the correct exam is performed due to the doctors orders as well as signing off that the exam was completed of the request.
