Job description

Avacend is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) for a night-shift travel contract opportunity. This role requires a confident Critical Care RN skilled in assessing and caring for high-acuity patients within a multidisciplinary ICU team. The position includes occasional floating to the Burn Unit and involves working with EPIC electronic health record systems.


Shift: 6:45 PM–7:15 AM

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU/IMCU settings
  • Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor condition changes
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, infusions, and ordered treatments
  • Develop and update individualized patient care plans
  • Recognize and respond promptly to emergencies and patient status changes
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Educate and support patients and their families
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation using EPIC system
  • Adhere to facility safety, quality, and clinical care standards
  • Occasionally float to the Burn Unit as needed
  • Manage telemetry and cardiac monitoring for critically ill patients

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma
  • Active RN license in state of assignment or qualifying Compact RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in critical care nursing and patient assessment
  • Burn Unit or burn-care experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Strong emergency response, critical thinking, and communication skills.
