Summary

The AV Service Technician is responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and servicing professional audio, video, sound, lighting, and control systems across a variety of client environments. This role requires hands-on technical expertise to install, configure, maintain, and repair AV systems while ensuring reliable system performance and a high level of customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented technician with strong problem-solving abilities, experience working with AV technologies, and the flexibility to operate independently or collaboratively in fast-paced environments. The position includes 75% domestic and international travel and may involve supporting installations and service activities in cruise, entertainment, and other commercial settings.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & System Deployment

  • Perform site assessments to determine installation requirements and project needs.
  • Install, configure, and integrate AV equipment including projectors, video walls, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, lighting systems, and control interfaces.
  • Pull, terminate, and test cabling; fabricate equipment racks; and complete system wiring activities.
  • Calibrate, commission, and test AV systems to verify performance and compliance with project specifications.
  • Interpret technical documentation, including schematics, manuals, engineering drawings, and related design documents.

Maintenance & Technical Support

  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and inspections on audiovisual systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues both onsite and remotely.
  • Coordinate repair and warranty-related activities with manufacturers and technical support resources.
  • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation related to service activities and repairs.

Customer Support

  • Serve as a primary technical contact for client service requests and support needs.
  • Provide onsite user training and guidance regarding system operation and basic troubleshooting procedures.
  • Deliver services with a strong focus on safety, professionalism, responsiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Team Collaboration & Professional Development

  • Stay informed on emerging AV technologies, products, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain required certifications, training, and technical knowledge.
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Logistics, and Warehouse teams regarding equipment handling and project support activities.
  • Assist colleagues with large-scale installations, service projects, and complex technical issues when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the audiovisual industry with installation, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audio, video, and lighting systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and related documentation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform work at heights or within confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and participate in on-call support schedules as required.
  • Valid driver's license and passport.
  • Ability to travel, including international assignments and work aboard cruise vessels.
