JOB SUMMARY
The Systems Engineer for the Mechatronic group serves as a technical specialist; provides expertise to support the development of new product ideas, concepts and product improvements; ensures the designs are consistent with the organization objectives; and acts as the interface between Product Management, Solution/System Architects, Mechanical, Electrical and Software Developers for transforming the defined stakeholder requirements into a set of system/subsystem requirements that will guide the design of the solution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and track goals and KPIs.
  • Translate product goals into detailed system requirements for design guidance.
  • Generate interface control documents for subsystem interactions.
  • Specify functional and non-functional requirements in subsystem specification documents.
  • Support analyzing impact when there are changes to stakeholder requirements.
  • Assist Safety Engineers in analyzing systems/subsystems to mitigate risk exposure.
  • Ensure safety goals and requirements are integrated into designs.
  • Participate in conceptual design and documentation processes.
  • Engage in design reviews to ensure compliance and traceability.
  • Support development of verification and acceptance test cases.
  • Review test plans and procedures for alignment with requirements.
  • Contribute to proposal inputs and customer presentations.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in requirements elicitation and generation.
  • Proven experience in product development lifecycle for complex systems.
  • Familiarity with autonomous systems or robotics preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • Proficient understanding of design principles and requirement management.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with requirement management tools such as IBM Doors, Jama Connect, Polarion, or other requirement management software.
  • Experience with safety analysis such as HARAs, STPAs, FMEAs, and others.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation constantly throughout the workday.
  • Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Ability to effectively complete job responsibilities on computer monitors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through other electronic means.
  • Able to traverse an office environment.
