Job description

Amsted Automotive Tool Maker

Set up and operate press for building new dies and unloading and loading dies for repair for cold form and finishing. Study blueprints, sketches, models or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers and dial indicators. Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes and tolerances of assemblies based on specifications.

Set up and operate conventional or machined tools such as Lates, ID/OD Grinder, surface grinder or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes. Fit and assemble parts to make, repair or modify dies, jigs, gauges and tools using machine tools and hand tools. Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity and defects. Lift, positions and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables using hoists, vises, v-blocks or angle plates. Set up and operate drill presses.

Experience as a Tool Maker. Proven ability to work well in a team environment. Possess strong motivational and leadership skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Excellent work record history. Basic computer skills, including P.C knowledge and current technology software familiarity. Must have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate with staff well. Ability to regularly stand or work for long periods of time. Ability to regularly lift/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift to fifty (50) pounds. While performing the job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration, repetitive motion, bending, lifting, twisting, crouching, reaching, pushing and/or pulling. Ability to endure heat.
