Job Title: Electrical Dyno Systems Engineer, Energy and Environment Solutions

HORIBA Instruments is dedicated to providing innovative analytical solutions that contribute to environmental protection and energy efficiency. Our Energy and Environment (E&E) solutions address critical needs in automotive testing, environmental monitoring, alternative energy management (battery and hydrogen), and sustainable development.

The Electrical Dyno Systems Engineer will focuses on developing electrical specifications and designs for new HORIBA equipment, including conceptual and detailed product design, plus verification and validation plans. It requires applying industry standards (NEC, UL, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA) and producing compliant one-line diagrams, control schematics, and panel layouts. The position also ensures standardization of product drawings across HORIBA’s global product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops specifications base on testing requirements for new equipment or applications under development by HORIBA. This may include conceptual design, detailed product design, verification and validation test plans.
  • Must be able to apply standards such as NEC, UL, IEC, IEEE, NFPA and OSHA to product and system design.
  • Develop electrical designs to support new projects. Ensuring one line diagrams, control schematic layouts and panel layouts are created according to recognized standards.
  • Standardizes product drawings to match HORIBA worldwide products and facilitates consistency in design philosophy and material.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in electrical engineering and/or a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the testing industry or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical. Knowledge of adjustable speed drive systems. Including the ability to properly size and select major system components while ensuring their full compatibility (e.g. understanding power distribution systems, one line diagrams and major power system components).
  • Technical Skills: Design/Analysis including knowledge of power system per unit analysis method, short circuit current analysis, power quality analysis, arc flash calculations. As well as a background in controls theory, PLC experience, E-Plan, and experience with HORIBAs ERP system (SAP) preferred
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and offer creative solutions to customer challenges.
