Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Warranty Analysis Engineers with strong automotive engineering and failure-analysis expertise to support warranty investigations and product reliability improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience analyzing warranty/field failures, performing root cause analysis, investigating returned components, and working with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams.

This role will focus primarily on engine and powertrain-related systems, with an emphasis on identifying recurring failures, determining root causes, supporting corrective actions, and reducing warranty costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze returned warranty components and investigate field failures to determine failure modes and root causes.
  • Conduct component inspections, teardown analysis, diagnostics, and performance evaluations.
  • Analyze warranty claims and field data to identify trends, recurring issues, quality concerns, and potential product failures.
  • Lead structured root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis, and FMEA methodologies.
  • Support containment, corrective action, and preventive action activities for identified warranty concerns.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Service, and other cross-functional teams to resolve warranty issues.
  • Review engineering specifications, drawings, test results, and component performance data during failure investigations.
  • Support warranty part disposition, including repair, rework, scrap, or additional testing recommendations.
  • Prepare technical reports, warranty summaries, failure-analysis documentation, and engineering recommendations.
  • Participate in supplier and customer technical reviews related to warranty and quality concerns.
  • Monitor warranty performance and support initiatives to reduce warranty claims, costs, and customer complaints.
  • Apply reliability and statistical analysis techniques to evaluate product performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support automotive quality processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams, management, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5โ€“10 years of automotive engineering, warranty, quality, reliability, or failure-analysis experience.
  • Strong understanding of automotive mechanical systems and powertrain/engine components.
  • Hands-on experience with warranty analysis, field failure investigation, or returned-part analysis.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis, and FMEA.
  • Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers is highly preferred.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and identify warranty/failure trends.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, test reports, and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical-reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other engineering/data-analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with engine, transmission, driveline, exhaust, HVAC, or other powertrain/vehicle systems.
  • Experience with automotive diagnostic tools and vehicle/field data.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, IATF 16949, or related automotive quality processes.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with warranty management systems and databases.
  • Knowledge of reliability/statistical analysis, including Pareto and Weibull analysis.
  • Experience working directly with suppliers, dealerships, service organizations, or customers.
  • Exposure to hybrid and electric powertrain systems is a plus.
