Position Description
Playing a key role in our product development process, the Automotive Technical Writer first and foremost communicates the "how to" regarding our products' function and installation. Our ideal candidate for this position will possess a positive attitude, strong automotive/mechanical and writing skills, and a passion to positively impact change within the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is an absolute must-have, along with a proven ability to follow instructions, work in a team environment, and successfully resolve issues with a positive, upbeat attitude, as well as to organize and prioritize work, as well as organize and manage large-scale projects. This is a full-time opportunity within our Wadsworth, Ohio facility.
Responsibilities
  • Install, test fit, and validate new and existing parts in terms of quality, functionality, and performance
  • Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure we are developing the best products possible
  • Write customer-facing installation instructions in a way which speaks to readers of any skill level
  • Write in-house assembly, inspection, and packaging documentation
  • Assist in the coordination of sourcing, pickup, drop off, and delivery of customer vehicles
  • Maintain cleanliness of shop and R&D facilities

Requirements
  • Attention to detail with the constant pursuit of raising the bar
  • 2+ years experience in general automotive repair and maintenance
  • Intimate, hands-on understanding of steering, suspension, braking, exhaust, turbo/supercharger, engine, and drivetrain
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of owning and managing many projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated team player, with the ability to identify tasks without supervision
  • Willingness to seek guidance when needed
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission
  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications
  • In depth European automotive knowledge (BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, MINI, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz)
  • 3+ years' experience in engine management diagnosis / repair
  • 2+ years' experience in automotive control modules, electrical systems, and wiring
  • Successful completion of an automotive technician education (ASE, UTI, UNOH, etc.)
  • Experience with AP English language and composition
  • Hands-on experience with DSLR camera and related equipment
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe, Office, Solidworks suites
  • Charismatic personality that is comfortable explaining and performing repairs in front of a virtual audience including being on camera for video projects.
