Automotive Product Support Specialist - Sacramento, CA

General Function:

A Tier one supplier is looking for Automotive Product Support Specialists with strong technical background and hands-on expertise in vehicle systems. This role supports product litigation cases and lemon law claims by conducting vehicle inspections, researching vehicle history, evaluating case merit, and serving as a subject matter expert during arbitration and litigation proceedings. Serving as the main research agent gathering vehicle condition from multiple internal sources to support the customers’ position related to possible arbitration proceedings


Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

Specific Duties:

  • Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert for a domestic OEM client
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections documenting conditions, service history, maintenance, and aftermarket equipment
  • Prepare and submit detailed technical reports in a timely fashion
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customers’ product lines and automotive systems
  • Capture clear, accurate photos of vehicle(s) and components
  • Participate in arbitration and litigation of cases as related to lemon law claims.
  • Meet established service level agreements for cases assigned

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years related automotive service industry experience

  • Current ASE certifications A1 – A8, with L1 preferred

  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostic repair procedures and OEM scan tools

  • Excellent communication skills and experience working directly with customers

  • Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook and Excel

  • Familiarity with the TREAD Act, Lemon Law, litigation and arbitration.

  • Ability to act as a technical expert for trials and depositions.

  • Experience writing detailed technical reports

  • Experience and professionalism in interfacing with claimants, courts and legal counsel

  • Ability to evaluate cases on technical merit

  • Experience with warranty process and procedures for automotive OEM’s

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to work independently

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to upload and manage case documents

  • Ability for local and/or overnight travel as required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in automotive technical school, business or related field
  • 10 years of relevant work experience with an associate’s degree in applied science may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree

Work Environment:

  • This is primarily a work from home assignment to document and gather case details, but work will also be performed in a dealership service departments, parking lots (holding area) and/or shop bay settings. Work environment may involve exposure to various weather conditions, automotive fumes, fluids, noise, smells, sharp edges and bump hazards that require continuous use of personal protective equipment. Work may involve standing, sitting, walking (even, uneven areas), occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.

Travel Required:

  • Yes, within your assigned geographic area and up to 10%, with some overnights
