Position: Service Manager

Nissan of Hillside, NJ is seeking an experienced, driven, and highly organized Service Manager to lead our growing service department. We’re looking for a leader who knows how to build strong teams, elevate performance, and deliver exceptional customer care. The right manager will guide our service advisors and technicians to the next level of efficiency, communication, and customer satisfaction. We firmly believe that a well‑managed service department is the foundation of long‑term customer loyalty and repeat business.                Compensation includes a salary and commission structure starting at $180,000.

Your Daily Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate a busy import union shop and non‑union support staff, ensuring all work meets manufacturer and municipal standards.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction levels that meet or exceed expectations set by both upper management and the manufacturer.
  • Utilize advertising and marketing tools to generate a consistent flow of service business.
  • Establish clear communication standards for advisors and technicians to ensure customers receive accurate, timely information.
  • Ensure proper dispatching of work to technicians to maximize productivity for customer repairs and internal vehicle prep.
  • Develop and implement training schedules for technicians, advisors, and support staff.
  • Lead your team with constructive feedback, fostering morale, professionalism, and dealership integrity.
  • Train staff to greet every customer with warmth, professionalism, and attention.
  • Oversee monthly business results and present upcoming monthly goals to upper management.
  • Guide advisors to sell and upsell services ethically, consistently, and effectively.
  • Communicate professionally across all channels to resolve customer concerns quickly and thoroughly.
  • Represent the dealership with professionalism, building long‑term relationships between customers and Nissan of Hillside. 

    Qualities We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum three years of experience managing a union shop in a franchised automotive dealership.
  • Import manufacturer experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, organizational skills, and a polished professional presence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to ensure timely, compliant submission of all required manufacturer documents and approvals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on listening, empathy, and customer care.
  • Reliable, presentable, and committed to maintaining a professional business appearance.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.
  • Experience delivering outstanding customer service, building trust, and driving satisfaction.
