Job description

About Us:
Dave's Auto Center & Dave's Engines is a fast-growing, family-owned automotive and engine shop based in Utah. With over 35 years in business, we specialize in full-service repair, diesel and gas engine building, and a rapidly expanding online parts store.
We pride ourselves on craftsmanship, transparency, and real-world expertise-backed by a strong social media presence that reaches millions of customers nationwide.
Position Overview:
We're looking for a driven, knowledgeable, and customer-focused team member to join us full-time in-shop. This role is a blend of sales, customer service, and fulfillment-helping customers both in person and online while supporting our growing e-commerce operation.
You'll be on the front lines of our business, guiding customers through parts selection, engine purchases, and ensuring a smooth, professional experience from first contact to final delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and live chat inquiries
  • Educate customers on automotive, diesel, and engine-related parts and services
  • Sell engines, performance parts, and product lines (in-store and online)
  • Assist walk-in customers and provide a high-level in-person experience
  • Pull parts from inventory and coordinate order fulfillment and shipping
  • Process and manage online orders through our Shopify store
  • Work closely with technicians and advisors to ensure accurate recommendations
  • Maintain organization in parts inventory and shipping areas
  • Help create a smooth customer journey from inquiry to completed sale

What We're Looking For:
  • Strong communication skills (phone, in-person, and written)
  • Basic to intermediate automotive knowledge (diesel knowledge is a big plus)
  • Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to educate-not just sell
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable with computers, order systems, and online platforms
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and positive attitude

Why Join Us:
  • Be part of a growing automotive brand with a large online presence
  • Work directly with real builds, real customers, and real products
  • Opportunity to grow with both in-shop and e-commerce operations
  • Fast-paced, hands-on environment with a strong team culture
  • Competitive pay based on experience + performance opportunities

Compensation: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Our service technicians are some of the best in the industry, with extensive experience and industry certifications. MEET DAVE
At only fifteen years of age, Dave started fixing cars in southern Florida for a taxi cab and limo company in 1975. Besides throwing a paper route, its the only job he has ever done. He worked for many different dealerships, mostly European and Japanese imports, before opening his first shop in 1990. He started in an unheated storage shed and the business has grown into a state of the art facility with a 25 bay repair shop and full auto machine shop in Centerville.
Dave is an ASE master mechanic with over 35 years experience fixing cars and helping people. He holds a master machinist certificate and is a long standing member of ASA and AAA.
Growing up in Florida gave Dave a love of the ocean that has never waned. He loves to tournament fish and has done it all his life. The palm trees in front of the shop are his way of bringing a little bit of Florida to Utah.
