Job description

Journeyman Automotive Technician – Fleet & Commercial

Full-Time | Banff, Alberta

Work where you play — right in the heart of Banff National Park.

DJs Garage is looking for a Journeyman Automotive Technician to join our small, experienced team in Banff, Alberta. This is a full-time, year-round role focused primarily on maintaining and repairing the Discover Banff Tours fleet, along with a variety of retail and commercial customer vehicles from throughout the Bow Valley.

One day you might be diagnosing an issue on a diesel shuttle bus, the next you’re handling preventative maintenance on a local customer vehicle — all while working in one of the most beautiful places in Canada.

We’re not a high-pressure dealership environment. DJs Garage is a locally operated shop that values teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and quality work. We offer a supportive and collaborative environment with steady work, regular hours, and a wide variety of vehicles and repair challenges.

Why Work With Us?

  • $42–$45/hour based on experience
  • Competitive straight-time hourly compensation
  • Full-time, year-round employment
  • Monday to Friday schedule
  • Fully equipped indoor shop environment designed for year-round work in the Rockies
  • Small, collaborative team environment
  • Wide variety of fleet, commercial, and retail work
  • Opportunity to work on everything from sedans to medium-duty buses
  • Work and live in the heart of the Canadian Rockies
  • Limited staff accommodation may be available for the right candidate

Benefits & Perks

  • Extended health, dental & life insurance
  • RRSP contribution matching
  • Paid medical and personal days
  • Health spending account
  • Uniforms provided
  • Employee pricing on automotive parts and services
  • Access to shop space for personal vehicle projects
  • Discounts on local tours and activities
  • Company events and team outings
  • The Rockies as your backyard — including opportunities to experience our tours firsthand

What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet, commercial, and retail vehicles
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues
  • Assist with inspections and fleet maintenance requirements including Provincial and Inter-Provincial standards
  • Work on a variety of vehicles including sedans, vans, cutaway buses, and medium-duty vehicles
  • Complete accurate work orders and track repair time through ShopBoss software
  • Recommend maintenance and repair solutions to help keep fleet vehicles safe and reliable
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Work collaboratively with apprentices and other technicians
  • Collaborate closely with the Shop Coordinator, Operations Manager, and other technicians to keep workflow moving efficiently

Team Environment

This is a collaborative technician role within a small, close-knit shop team. You’ll work alongside experienced journeyman technicians, apprentices, and operations staff in a supportive environment where communication and teamwork matter.

You’ll report to the Operations Manager, who oversees shop operations and fleet priorities while working closley with the Shop Coordinator . This role is designed to be part of the team — not operate independently in a large corporate environment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Licensed Journeyman Automotive Technician
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with fleet, diesel, commercial, or medium-duty vehicles is an asset
  • Comfortable adapting to a variety of repair and maintenance work
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to stay organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Alberta CVIP inspection experience or willingness to obtain certification is an asset
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract required
  • Class 4 license is an asset
  • Own tools required
