Design Engineer - Brake Systems
Wyoming, MN | Contract | $40/hr - $65/hr
Konik is partnering with a leading automotive manufacturer to add a Design Engineer to their team. This position will support a major supplier transition project focused on brake component redesign, CAD updates, drawing releases, and manufacturing changes. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design experience with machined components and the ability to work independently with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and engineering stakeholders.
Design Engineer - Brake Systems Responsibilities:

  • Design, modify, and release brake system components and assemblies using CREO and PLM tools.
  • Manage engineering changes associated with transitioning brake components to a new manufacturing supplier, including drawing updates and release documentation.
  • Evaluate opportunities for component optimization, standardization, and part consolidation to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce complexity.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and engineering teams to support design-for-manufacturing initiatives and successful product launches.
  • Interpret engineering requirements, specifications, and test data to implement design improvements and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure drawings, models, and engineering documentation meet GD&T and product quality standards.
  • Support project execution through design reviews, technical communication, supplier coordination, and issue resolution.


Design Engineer - Brake Systems Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing mechanical components or assemblies, preferably machined, hydraulic, structural, automotive, powersports, or similar products.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software; CREO experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, manufacturing processes, and engineering drawing creation.
  • Experience releasing engineering documentation and supporting product lifecycle management processes.
  • Strong communication, project organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • 5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience preferred, though highly capable engineers with less experience will be considered.
