Automation Engineer Analyst (Automation Tester IV) • Location: Hybrid (Austin, TX | Omaha, NE | Chicago, IL) • Local only with DL • Duration: 12+ Months Contract • Rate: $45/hr C2C

Job Summary

PayPal is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer Analyst to join the Technology Internal Control Automation Testing Team. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and implement automated testing solutions for technology and security controls using Python, SQL, BigQuery, Power Automate, APIs, and cloud technologies. This role focuses on automating manual control testing, building scalable data pipelines, and creating dashboards that improve visibility into cybersecurity risks and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop automated testing solutions for technology and security controls.
  • Build data pipelines to collect, transform, and process data from multiple sources.
  • Develop automation using Python, SQL, Power Automate, and cloud services.
  • Create automated control testing logic to identify exceptions and compliance gaps.
  • Build dashboards and reports using Power BI or Tableau for stakeholders.
  • Develop reusable, high-quality code and deploy automation using GCP, GKE, or Azure cloud functions.
  • Automate recurring operational tasks using Python scripting.
  • Develop end-to-end workflow applications using Python, databases, and Docker.
  • Integrate automated test cases into CI/CD and nightly build processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define automation requirements.
  • Manage work tracking using Jira and maintain code repositories in GitHub.
  • Stay current with automation, cloud, AI technologies, and cybersecurity best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in Automation Engineering, Software Testing, Data Engineering, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Python
    • SQL & NoSQL
    • BigQuery
    • REST/SOAP APIs
    • Postman
    • Power Automate
    • Power BI or Tableau
    • Cloud platforms including GCP, Azure, and GKE
    • Hadoop, Hive, Apache Spark, Teradata, Airflow, Splunk, or similar technologies
    • Data integration, ETL, data profiling, and data quality assessment
    • Workflow applications using Python, DBMS, and Docker
  • Familiarity with Jira and GitHub.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with risk and controls testing automation.
  • Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework and technology controls.
  • Experience with AI technologies including MCP, A2A, Agentic AI, and Generative AI.
