Niyam is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to join our team in support of our work with a federal client. We offer competitive compensation and benefits. This hybrid role will design, implement, and execute comprehensive testing and evaluation protocols that ensure compliance with system requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in automated testing frameworks, Agile methodologies, and Java development, with the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software and hardware solutions. Candidate must be able to work onsite at client location in Ashburn, VA up to 4 days/week.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and execute testing protocols to validate system and application requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated testing scripts and frameworks for application products.
  • Conduct regression, smoke, and integration testing for IT applications.
  • Evaluate test cases, document results, and deliver regular progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Provide expertise to support user requirements for complex software and hardware applications.
  • Participate in all phases of risk management assessments and development lifecycles.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to identify, isolate, and resolve software defects.
  • Ensure adherence to Agile and QA methodologies throughout the development cycle.
  • Perform API testing to validate system integrations, data exchange, and service reliability.
  • Utilize SQL queries to validate data integrity, perform backend testing, and support defect analysis.


Requirements:

  • US Citizen with ability to successfully complete federal background investigation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance.
  • Strong understanding of Agile and QA methodologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Test Automation Tools (e.g., Selenium, WebDriver).
    • Java development.
    • API testing tools and methodologies (e.g., Rest-Assured, Postman, REST, SOAP).
    • SQL backend testing and data validation.
    • Source control and concurrent workflows (Git preferred).
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts.
  • Experience in regression, smoke, and integration testing.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Must be local to Ashburn, VA and available to work onsite up to 4 days/week.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with mobile application testing (iOS and/or Android) including functional and usability testing.
  • Experience with Jira Xray.
  • Hands-on experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Hands-on experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD).
