Industrial Automation Software Developer

Location: Hamilton
Employment Status: Salary Full-Time

Role Summary

Develop and support industrial automation software that orchestrates machine operations, robotics workflows, and operator applications. Focus on reliability, diagnostics, production support, and integration across software, controllers, and automation systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain C# applications using .NET Framework 4.8, .NET Standard 2.0, and .NET 6+.
  • Develop workflow orchestration, sequencing, and machine-control integrations.
  • Investigate production issues through application, machine, controller, and robot logs.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Enhance fault handling, recovery workflows, monitoring, and observability.
  • Collaborate with Controls, QA, Operations, and Support teams.
  • Contribute to testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and release readiness.
Required Qualifications

BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of C# and object-oriented software development experience.
  • Strong experience with .NET Framework and modern .NET platforms.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience in production or distributed systems.
  • Strong debugging, log analysis, and root cause investigation skills.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, asynchronous programming, and system integration.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industrial automation, robotics, manufacturing, or material-handling experience.
  • ABB RAPID, PLCs, machine controllers, or industrial communications experience.
  • Experience with observability platforms, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.).
  • Ability to leverage AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and productivity improvements.
Success Profile

Owns production issues, identifies root causes quickly, improves uptime, delivers reliable solutions, and communicates effectively across software and controls teams.
