Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain safety-critical embedded software across the full product lifecycle. This role focuses on delivering reliable, high-performance software solutions while ensuring compliance with industry, customer, safety, and regulatory requirements. The position also involves strong DevOps responsibilities, including automation of build, test, and deployment pipelines, and supporting simulation and lab environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain safety-critical embedded software systems across the full lifecycle.
Translate customer and system requirements into scalable, testable software architectures and detailed designs.
Develop and optimize software components and algorithms for performance, integration, and reliability.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including requirements traceability, design specifications, test plans, and release notes.
Lead verification and validation activities, including unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
Generate certification artifacts and safety documentation to meet regulatory and compliance standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, field issues, and performance bottlenecks.
Support user inquiries and technical issues, incorporating feedback into product improvements.
Establish, monitor, and continuously improve development processes, KPIs, and toolchains.
Plan and execute R&D activities and feasibility studies.
Manage project activities including scheduling, risk management, and resource planning.
Coordinate with software suppliers and partners to ensure compliance with project and industry standards.
DevOps & Automation Responsibilities:
Support IGHOS Product Line DevOps activities across Mission Systems and Avionics domains.
Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, including automation of build and test workflows.
Automate build toolchains using GitLab runners and enforce merge controls through regression test validation.
Deploy and manage simulation environments using containerization technologies.
Configure and manage simulations for laboratory environments through controlled and auditable processes.
Automate configuration of lab equipment for nightly test runs, Formal Qualification Testing (FQT), and ad-hoc testing.
Develop and maintain scripts for automation in both Windows and Linux environments.
Set up and maintain development environments, ensuring alignment with standardized toolchains and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Strong experience in embedded software development within safety-critical environments.
Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Proficiency in scripting for both Windows and Linux environments.
Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration, and lifecycle management.
Experience with automated testing, regression validation, and build pipeline optimization.
Preferred Skills:
Experience supporting Mission Systems or Avionics programs.
Familiarity with laboratory simulation environments and test automation.
Knowledge of Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) processes.
Experience working with standardized development environments and enterprise toolchains.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in complex technical environments.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with significant relevant experience. Advanced degrees or equivalent experience in embedded systems and DevOps environments are preferred.
