Summary
Lincoln Electric is seeking an Engineering Technologist for our Euclid, Ohio headquarters. The primary function of a Robotic Automation Technologist is to implement and support automated processes to drive improvements in safety, ergonomics, quality, productivity and cost reductions. The role heavily focuses on hands on implementation and support of robotic solutions that often integrate with other types of equipment and at times involve non-robotic automation.
What You Will Do
  • Provide technical support on existing robotic and automated cells used throughout production, which includes troubleshooting problems and process related issues.
  • Create procedures, documentation, routings, and other necessary documentation for the manufacturing process.
  • Identify opportunities for robotic and automated solutions to drive manufacturing operation improvements.
  • Coordinate with vendors to conceptualize, design, size and quote new automation systems.
  • Manage projects for new robotic and automated system implementations.
  • Design customized fixturing and workholding for automated systems using Solid Edge.
  • Collaborates and communicates cross functionally with all levels of the organization including but not limited to pieceworkers, R&D, QA, Supply Management, production departments, and executive management.
  • Other assignments as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Engineering Technology or related discipline and minimum 5 years work experience in a related field. Alternatively, 15 plus years work experience in the field of robotic automation.
  • In depth knowledge and experience implementing robotic and automated solutions.
  • Proficient at programming robots and can perform higher level programming for more complex routines such as auto recovery.
  • Fanuc robotic programming and/or robotic welding experience is a plus.
  • Very good organizational skills as well as written and oral communication skills.
  • Possess and apply strong problem solving skills with an analytical approach and attention to detail. Ability to apply continuous improvement methodology to solve real world problems.
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and changing priorities.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in higher level functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently, cross functionally, or part of a team.
  • Possess and apply a broad knowledge of engineering and scientific principles, practices and procedures.
  • Solid modeling (CAD) experience with the ability to conceptualize and design components such as fixturing for automated solutions.
  • Ability to be effective working with shop floor employees and to adjust work schedule at times if needed.
  • Able to gather data and analyze it to make good fact based decisions.
