Job description

Automation Project Lead
Pay Range: $30-$39+ per hour, based on experience
Location: Lanco Integrated
At Lanco, the machines you build don't sit in a warehouse - they run on production floors inside some of the world's most demanding manufacturing facilities, assembling the devices and components that end up in operating rooms, vehicles, and defense systems. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll own the assembly, debug, and commissioning of complex automated systems, then travel to customer sites to install and run them off. Travel is real but purposeful with a handful of significant trips per year; not a life lived out of a suitcase.
We're looking for an Automation Project Lead who combines mechanical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for building high-performance automated systems. You'll work side-by-side with talented technicians and engineers to assemble, debug, and commission custom automation equipment, helping ensure every system delivers peak performance. What You'll Do
  • Lead the assembly, debug, and commissioning of medium to large-scale custom automation systems from start to finish
  • Own project timelines, daily check-ins, and milestone execution. You set the pace
  • Run Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) processes.
  • Drive cross-functional problem solving across mechanical, electrical, programming, and design teams
  • Own machine verification, Gage R&R, and CpK studies from first run through final acceptance
  • Mentor and develop a team of Mechanical Technicians (Levels 1-3), building the next generation of builders at Lanco
  • Contribute actively to Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement on the floor, because your ideas matter here
What You Bring
  • Hands-on background in custom machine building where you build the equipment, not the product it makes
  • A.S. in a mechanical or electrical field, or 3-5 years of directly relevant experience
  • Any electrical knowledge alongside your mechanical base is a plus
  • Familiarity with machining tools such as mills, lathes, and grinders is a welcome addition
  • A leadership style that's hands-on, proactive, and steady when problems need solving
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the role (reaching, kneeling, lifting 25-50 lbs.).
Life at Lanco
