Core Responsibilities Hands-On Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Perform direct repair and diagnostic work on roll-forming lines, mechanical and servo presses, feeders, straighteners, uncoilers, conveyors, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
  • Identify and resolve complex issues involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated control systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance staff during challenging or high-priority equipment failures.
  • Analyze and repair industrial components such as motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, safety circuits, encoders, and solenoid valves.
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of PLC-based systems, HMIs, VFDs, and automated press control setups.
  • Execute safe, temporary fixes to keep production moving, followed by the implementation of permanent, long-term solutions.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, automation experts, and external service providers to ensure we maintain a high standard of equipment performance.
  • Help oversee the installation, modification, and startup of new or upgraded production machinery.
  • Address tooling and roll-forming equipment concerns to help maintain a safe and reliable production environment.
Team Leadership & Daily Management
  • Supervise, schedule, and mentor the maintenance staff across all required shifts.
  • Prioritize daily maintenance tasks based on safety requirements, production needs, and equipment condition to ensure team efficiency.
  • Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable for their assigned responsibilities.
  • Facilitate daily meetings to review open work orders, downtime incidents, and repair priorities to keep the team aligned.
  • Ensure that all maintenance staff accurately record repair details, root causes, and parts usage to maintain high data integrity.
  • Provide technical coaching and hands‑on instruction to help the team improve their overall troubleshooting proficiency.

  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to reduce operational interference.

  • Verify that all safety devices, including guards, interlocks, and light curtains, are inspected and documented to help maintain a safe workplace.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and PLC backups to ensure information is always accessible.
  • Leverage the CMMS/eMaint system to track work orders, labor hours, and maintenance projects effectively.
Downtime Reduction & Continuous Improvement
  • React rapidly to production breakdowns and maintain accountability until the equipment is safely operational.
  • Lead thorough root‑cause analysis sessions for major or recurring machine failures.
  • Differentiate between surface‑level symptoms and underlying root causes to solve problems at the source.
  • Develop permanent corrective measures to prevent the recurrence of equipment failures.
  • Monitor chronic issues and maintain action plans to ensure timely resolution of all outstanding equipment problems.
  • Recommend machine modifications to boost reliability, safety, and overall production output.
  • Work with Production and Engineering to optimize sensors, controls, and machine timing for better performance.
  • Investigate quality issues related to equipment to determine if the cause lies in machine condition, setup, or operating practices.
  • Contribute to new‑equipment selection to ensure future maintainability, spare‑parts availability, and proper documentation.
Parts, Planning & Contractor Management
  • Organize and maintain a comprehensive inventory of critical spare parts.
  • Establish optimal stock levels for essential components to ensure we are always prepared for repairs.
  • Ensure all critical motors, drives, sensors, and hydraulic components are properly identified and stored for quick access.
  • Manage purchasing activities and verify that all parts meet the necessary specifications for the repair.
  • Evaluate vendor quotes to ensure cost‑effective procurement.
  • Coordinate external contractors to ensure their work aligns with our safety, quality, and scheduling standards.
  • Verify that all contractor work is documented and that we receive updated drawings and manuals.
  • Plan major maintenance projects by developing schedules, repair estimates, and labor requirements.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditures to identify savings opportunities while maintaining high equipment reliability.
Reporting & Performance Management

Provide regular maintenance performance reports to plant management and monitor key metrics, including:

  • Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements and verify employee understanding of machine‑specific energy‑control procedures.
  • Stop any maintenance activity that cannot be performed safely to protect the team.
  • Ensure machine guarding and safety devices are properly restored before equipment is returned to production.
  • Investigate equipment‑related safety concerns and implement corrective actions.

  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising maintenance technicians.
  • Strong hands‑on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of PLC‑controlled machinery, HMIs, servo systems, industrial sensors, and machine safety circuits.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, conveyors, and industrial machinery.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance, root‑cause analysis, and equipment reliability principles.
