We're recruiting for an experienced Automation Engineer to join a leading machinery manufacturer in Kansas City, MO.


This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex automation projects, developing PLC, HMI and motion control solutions while collaborating with global engineering teams on advanced machinery and integrated production systems.


What You'll Do

  • Design and develop PLC, HMI, motion control and machine safety software
  • Program and support automation systems for machinery and integrated production lines
  • Integrate third-party equipment and industrial communication networks
  • Configure and troubleshoot EtherNet/IP, Profinet, OPC UA and Modbus TCP networks
  • Support machine commissioning, FAT, SAT and startup activities
  • Troubleshoot automation, controls, software and communication issues
  • Support software standardization and modular automation development
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and corporate software standards
  • Create software documentation, functional specifications and commissioning reports
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on machine performance and reliability

What We're Looking For

  • Experience programming PLC-based automation systems
  • Strong understanding of IEC 61131-3 programming standards
  • Experience with industrial networking including EtherNet/IP, Profinet, OPC UA and Modbus TCP
  • Siemens TIA Portal and Siemens S7 experience preferred
  • Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Machine Expert experience preferred
  • Beckhoff TwinCAT programming experience preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience within machinery manufacturing or industrial automation environments preferred
