Ciena is seeking a student to contribute to operational excellence initiatives that support scalable, highquality service delivery for global customers. This 4month work term (September-December, with potential extension) offers handson exposure to AIdriven automation that improves efficiency and customer experience. The role follows a hybrid model with inoffice presence three days per week.

How you will make an impact:
  • Design and develop automation solutions and workflows using Microsoft Copilot and Power Platform tools to reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.

  • Analyze existing business processes to identify opportunities for optimization, standardization, and AIdriven transformation.

  • Build lightweight applications, dashboards, and scripts to enable operational reporting, insights, and decisionmaking.

  • Translate business requirements into scalable automation solutions in collaboration with crossfunctional teams.

  • Apply data analysis and automation concepts to enhance service delivery performance.

The must haves:
  • Education: Completion of a 3rd or 4thyear undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business with an operations focus, or enrollment in a Master's degree in one of these areas.

  • Experience: Application of programming or scripting languages through coursework or prior work experience.

  • Foundational knowledge of process improvement, data analysis, and automation concepts.

  • Demonstrated logical thinking with a structured, processoriented approach to problem solving.

Nice to haves:
  • Exposure to Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, Power Apps, or similar AI and automation tools.

  • Background in process improvement, workflow automation, or operationsfocused initiatives through coursework or prior work experience.

  • Ability to communicate technical solutions in a way that aligns with business outcomes.

Pay Range:

The hourly pay range for this position is $20.50 - $27.50
