Core Purpose and Essence of the Position: The Automation Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all e-commerce automation activities to ensure automated systems and mechanized operations are fully optimized and operating efficiently. This role oversees workload analysis, order allocation, wave management, and labor balancing recommendations to maximize throughput and productivity while meeting operational service levels. The Automation Supervisor provides first-level troubleshooting and resolution for Warehouse Management System (WMS) and automation-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring system reliability. Additionally, the role leads and develops Logistics Technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance management while partnering with Operations, Engineering, and IT teams to drive continuous improvement, system performance, and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

         Providing controls and process support for the automation and existing equipment in the facility         Learning various processes, equipment and controls used in our facility, particularly in relation to the automation         Troubleshooting automation related issues and following appropriate escalation procedures to address the issue in a timely manner, thereby improving the facility operations         Collaborating with the operations management and the vendor to carryout preventive/predictive maintenance and ensure effective equipment performance         Creating and reviewing the documents and specification for the automation and any new projects related to the facility automation process         Maintaining the inventory required by coordinating with the vendor and making spare parts purchases         Tracking the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of the automation and performing necessary actions to maintain the system in its optimal performanceCreate standard operating procedures and train staff any new or changing processes
  • Forecast and plan labor requirements together with the Warehouse Supervisor in relation to volume and throughput capabilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operation of automation and mechanization
  • Evaluate automation performance and utilization to make informed decisions on batching, waving and releasing orders
  • Evaluate automation bottle necks and re-assign resources based on operational needs
  • Creating working schedules for the Logistics Technician team and providing on-call support when required.

PRIMARY INTERACTIONS:

The primary interaction will be working with the Operations Management team, Client, and Warehouse Team.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year college degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related technical degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years 3PL automation experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position may require extended periods of standing and walking for up to 50% of the time. capable of heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds.

The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.  Work is generally performed within a warehouse environment, with standard warehouse material moving machines available.
