Job description

A global engineering and manufacturing organization specializing in advanced thermal processing systems is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead multidisciplinary engineering operations within a highly technical industrial manufacturing environment.

This position is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader with strong experience in capital equipment, industrial automation, and machinery manufacturing. The successful candidate will oversee both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams while driving innovation, technical excellence, product development, and operational efficiency across complex industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments, including direct oversight of engineering staff and technical initiatives
  • Develop and execute engineering strategies aligned with business growth, product innovation, and manufacturing efficiency goals
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Executive teams to support customer requirements and new business development
  • Oversee the design, integration, and troubleshooting of advanced industrial machinery and automation systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product performance, process optimization, quality, and cost reduction
  • Ensure engineering compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and industrial regulations
  • Support R&D activities, prototype development, and advanced manufacturing initiatives
  • Provide technical leadership for high-performance equipment involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and automated controls
  • Manage engineering resources, budgets, timelines, and departmental priorities
  • Lead customer technical discussions, presentations, and engineering reviews
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent while fostering a high-performance engineering culture
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7–10 years of experience in industrial machinery design and manufacturing
  • Prior experience working for a company that designs and manufactures capital equipment is required
  • 3–5 years of leadership or engineering management experience
  • Strong background in industrial automation and controls
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • PLC systems
    • HMIs
    • SCADA platforms
    • Instrumentation and electrical controls
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering operations
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within heat treatment, thermal processing, vacuum furnace, or industrial heating equipment industries
  • Familiarity with:
    • Allen Bradley PLCs (500/5000)
    • Intouch Wonderware
    • HC900 Design Station
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Experience using FEA and CFD tools
  • Background in advanced manufacturing technologies and automation
  • Experience leading R&D and engineering innovation programs
