What You Will Do

Under general supervision, collaborate with others to give direction on and improve performance of site Industrial Control Systems.

  • Follows and promotes Freeport-McMoRan safety and environmental programs and practices, communicates safety implications related to Process Automation (PA) and directs Industrial Control System (ICS) cybersecurity practices and policies. 
  • Gives directions on Process Automation engineering topics and projects.
  • Develops and participates in engineering project proposals, and engineering designs, and has ability to verify the quality of project work meets site Process Automation standards.
  • Maintains the performance of ICS hardware and software. Identifies opportunities to implement process improvement and optimization through automation while improving Operator and Operations effectiveness.
  • Participates in the implementation and maintenance of the Process Control Network (PCN) while maintaining plant performance, cyber security, and plant historian systems. 
  • Specifies and reviews specialized, analytical and advanced instrumentation solutions to be integrated into the site ICS.
  • Implements Process Automation equipment life cycle management and develops plans proposals, and budgetary estimates to ensure equipment remains current and up to date.
  • Performs other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering relevant to Process Automation, OR 
  • Master's degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience in engineering relevant to Process Automation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Emerson DeltaV and Rockwell PLC experience
  • PLC, HMI, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) manufacture training or certification
  • Experience with plant process historians or similar database storage and retrieval systems
  • Experience with ICS/PCN network architecture, communication and security
  • Experience in or understanding of mining and mineral processing and systems  
  • Familiarity with or training in NFPA 70 and NEC or Electrical Journeyman Training

What We Offer You

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently$93,000-$127,500.This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
