Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is seeking a remote PLC Programmer/SCADA SME to support utility-scale renewable energy and battery energy storage projects. This role will be responsible for PLC programming, SCADA integration, commissioning support, and control system optimization across solar and energy storage facilities.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain PLC programs using Schneider Electric M340/M580 platforms
* Design and optimize control logic for utility-scale BESS and solar applications
* Integrate PLCs with SCADA, HMI, historian, and OPC systems
* Configure and troubleshoot Modbus, DNP3, and related industrial communications
* Lead FAT, SAT, commissioning, and system integration testing activities
* Support PPA, LGIA, and OEM testing requirements
* Serve as a technical SME for controls architecture and automation best practices
* Create FRDs, technical documentation, code libraries, and programming standards
* Support cybersecurity and regulatory compliance initiatives, including NERC CIP requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
* 5+ years of PLC programming experience, preferably with Schneider Electric platforms
* Experience with Ignition SCADA and industrial communication protocols
* Knowledge of utility-scale power generation, renewable energy, or BESS systems
* Experience with commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and troubleshooting complex control systems
* Strong technical documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred:
* Experience with utility-scale renewable energy projects
* Knowledge of grid interconnection standards and energy storage technologies
* Familiarity with NERC CIP cybersecurity requirements
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
