Kelso Building Services, part of Kelso Industries, is seeking a driven, relationship-focused Building Automation & Controls Recruiter to help grow our workforce across the building automation, controls, and smart building industries. In this role, you'll recruit highly skilled professionals including Controls Technicians, BAS/BMS Programmers, Controls Engineers, System Integrators, Project Managers, Commissioning Specialists, and other technical professionals who design, install, program, and maintain building automation systems.
This position plays a critical role in supporting our operating companies by identifying and engaging top controls talent in a highly competitive market. Success requires strong sourcing skills, technical recruiting aptitude, and the ability to build relationships with both candidates and hiring leaders.
This role is hybrid, with a strong preference for candidates who can work from our Draper, UT office.
Responsibilities:
Recruiting & Talent Sourcing
  • Source and recruit Building Automation, Controls, and Smart Building professionals across multiple markets
  • Develop pipelines of qualified Controls Technicians, BAS/BMS Programmers, Controls Engineers, Commissioning Specialists, Project Managers, and related technical talent
  • Conduct high-volume outbound sourcing through calls, texts, emails, LinkedIn Recruiter, industry networks, referrals, and trade associations
  • Post and maintain job openings across recruiting platforms and industry-specific channels
  • Review applications and proactively engage qualified candidates
  • Build and maintain talent communities for recurring and hard-to-fill controls roles
  • Utilize market intelligence and competitive talent mapping to identify recruiting opportunities
Hiring Partnership & Workforce Planning
  • Partner closely with hiring managers and operational leaders to understand technical requirements and hiring priorities

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of recruiting experience supporting Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), controls, HVAC controls, systems integration, commissioning, engineering, construction technology, or related technical field-service roles
  • Experience recruiting for positions such as Controls Technician, Controls Engineer, BAS Programmer, Systems Integrator, Field Service Technician, Project Manager, or Commissioning Specialist preferred
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical job requirements within the building automation industry
  • Proven sourcing experience using LinkedIn Recruiter, job boards, referrals, and networking strategies
  • Comfortable making outbound calls, building relationships, and closing candidates in competitive labor markets
  • Experience utilizing an applicant tracking system (Greenhouse preferred)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills
