Your role as a Automation Technician (All Shifts Available)
Key responsibilities:
As the Automation Technician, you will be responsible for performing a broad range of maintenance and repair activities to ensure the warehouse can operate effectively and efficiently. Maintain a professional culture on site and a commitment to Health & Safety, in line with company values.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ensuring all equipment is maintained according to supplier guidelines. This includes conveyors, cranes, refrigeration systems (evaporators and condensers), fire protection, freezer doors, pallet-handling equipment, dock doors and other mechanical systems.
Performing planned preventative maintenance and repairs in a timely and safe manner, with minimal impact to normal operations.
Communicating with Planners and System Operators about equipment downtime.
Core tasks
Perform planned preventative maintenance on equipment while minimally impacting normal operations.
Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace components in conveyors, cranes, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and other mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot and fix problems with control systems, low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems.
Coordinate with Planners and System Operators to ensure repairs are communicated to the team and scheduled with minimal impact to normal operations.
Setup and operate machine tools such as milling machine, grinder, drill, etc to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, as required.
Operate cutting torch and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Ensure actions are executed in conformance with OSHA, FSDA requirements, and all other company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
Perform testing of fire suppression systems, fire alarms, and ammonia alarms, as required by local regulations.
Monitor ammonia refrigeration system and optimize performance.
Understand all equipment service agreements and warranties.
Coordinate with equipment suppliers for warranty claims, annual maintenance, and significant repairs.
Report, plan and track all maintenance and engineering issues using maintenance software.
Keep accurate registration of spare parts and tools in line with company policy.
Perform general facility maintenance including minor plumbing, general, electric, lighting and minor

Associate's degree or equivalent level of training
