Job description

SunSource's Industrial Business Unit focuses on industrial hydraulic, pneumatic and automation components and systems for industrial OEMs and MRO industries. The Industrial SBU offers a comprehensive program called SunSource advantage that offers design and engineering services, productivity solutions, supply chain optimization and value-added services. Combined with the fluid power products, the Industrial SBU provides a competitive advantage for OEM partners. We are currently looking for a Field Sales Engineer in Michigan.
Position Description: The Field Sales Engineer will penetrate the market within the Industrial Business Unit and achieve established goals in terms of sales, gross margin generation, and specific company initiatives within the Automation product lines. Also, provides technical assistance to field Account Managers.
  • Strong understand of Automation Controls & Software
  • Assess customer needs
  • Specify products
  • Prepare customer proposals, make customer presentation and resulting quotations
  • Determine costs
  • Service customers via telephone
  • Service customers on site
  • Develop technical drawings

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in ME/IE/EE or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years experience as a Field Sales Engineer for automation systems. Previous experience working for a distributor preferred.
  • Specific knowledge and experience with design, manufacture and integration of automated manufacturing, material handling, assembly and test equipment and mechanical and electrical design concepts and motion control.
  • Ability to develop creative cost-effective solutions to meet customer's needs.
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and AutoCAD, PLC Programming and troubleshooting.
