Job description

Position Summary

Our Quick Coupling Division is looking for a CNC Technician to support safe, efficient daily machining operations by providing technical leadership, troubleshooting processes, training team members, and maintaining quality and standardized work practices. The position also assists the Supervisor and Lead with staffing, administrative support, employee development, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-functional coordination to help achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives in alignment with the Parker WIN Strategy.

Parker's Quick Coupling Division is the largest manufacturer of quick couplings in the world. A quick coupling is used to provide a fast, make-or-break connection of fluid or gas transfer lines. Our Grantsburg plant provides critical equipment for many different industries including Agriculture, Construction, Semiconductors, and Data Centers.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce compliance of safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve as operational technical lead for development of new processes and troubleshooting of current processes.
  • Assist the Supervisor in providing support and direction with daily operations.
  • Back-up to the current lead position
  • Train new team members on machining operations and documentation (i.e. Set-ups, day-by-the-hour, etc.) to include maintaining and updating of current training programs and development of new training programs to match changing business conditions.
  • Support lead in maintaining the current copy of the Training Matrix for all team members.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities using problem solving tools, such as the A3 and 3 legged 5 why tools.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and investigate non-conformances.
  • Support the development and deployment of standardized work
  • Assist with safety incident investigations when needed.
  • Advocate and support the Corporate WIN Strategy
  • Assist Supervisor with employee reviews
  • Support team in the usage of Team Improvement Boards.
  • Assist Supervisor in adjusting manpower requirements to accommodate unscheduled absences of team members, including overtime requirements (when primary lead not present).
  • Support kaizen activities with assistance from supervisor, lead, and plant management.
  • Assist supervisor in other administrative tasks as required.
  • Serve as the Liaison between Machinist, Secondary Ops and Assemblers to Engineering, Maintenance, Production Planning and other support personnel (when primary lead not present).
  • Serve as the Go-To Person for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost issues throughout the operation (when primary lead not present).
  • Identify continuous improvement and kaizen opportunities

Qualifications

  • 2 years of machining experience required
  • 2 years previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred
  • Willing to attend job related continuous education
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Able to effectively work with people in a team environment
  • Possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Requires the use of complicated drawings, advanced shop mathematics, handbook formulas, variety of precision measuring instruments, some shop trade knowledge in a specialized field or process equivalent to one to three years of trade training
  • Computer literate
  • Requires the use of judgement to efficiently plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of set ups and operations of Automatic screw machines, Hydromats, and CNC lathes.
  • Must be able to do tool grinding and sharpening. Uses a variety of measuring instruments as required to inspect own work and that of others for first article of inspection. Work from drawings, specs, and job layouts.
  • Responsible for quality parts throughout production run
