Job description

PUNCH PRESS OPERATOR

Central Tool Specialties | Lombard, IL | On-Site

Full-Time, Hourly | $20.00 - $29.00 per hour, based on experience

FOUR-DAY WORK WEEK MONDAY - THURSDAY, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM EVERY FRIDAY OFF

Central Tool Specialties is a metal stamping manufacturer that has been in business in the Chicago area since 1962. We supply infrastructure components to the power generation sector - utilities, nuclear power plants, renewables, battery storage, and data centers. The parts made on our floor go into the systems that keep the grid running.

We are hiring a Punch Press Operator to join our production floor. This is a hands-on, full-time position with a four-day work week, unlimited overtime available, and real opportunity to grow into set-up and higher-skill work for an operator who shows up and takes pride in the job.

Schedule

  • Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (four-day work week - every Friday off)
  • Unlimited overtime available for those who want it

What You Will Do

  • Operate punch presses ranging from 50 to 400 tons
  • Assemble and deburr parts
  • Read and interpret basic prints
  • Use calipers and other measuring tools to inspect your own work
  • Apply basic shop math, including fractions and decimals
  • Recognize proper machine function and report problems promptly
  • Assist with die set-ups on presses as needed

What You Need

  • Experience with machine operation - punch press experience strongly preferred
  • A steady work history, including tenure with at least one prior employer
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 18 years of age (federal law prohibits workers under 18 from operating power-driven metal forming machines)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English well enough to follow safety instructions, read prints and work orders, and document your own work
  • Ability to bend, kneel, turn, and lift up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Reliable transportation arranged prior to your start date
  • Punctuality and reliability - these matter to us as much as skill
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment is contingent on completion of a background check.

Helpful, But Not Required

Experience with any of the following is a plus and may affect starting pay:

  • Grinders
  • Bridgeport mills
  • Press brakes

  • Waterjet

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay: $20.00 - $29.00 per hour, dependent upon experience and demonstrated knowledge
  • Weekly pay: Paid every Friday by direct deposit
  • Overtime: Unlimited overtime available, paid at time and a half for hours worked over 40 in a work week
  • Health and dental insurance: Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO medical and Principal dental. The company pays 75% of the premium; the remaining 25% is deducted weekly.
  • Retirement: 401(k) program with a company match of 100% of your salary deferrals, up to the first 3% of your eligible compensation. Eligibility begins after six months of service. The company may also make a discretionary profit-sharing contribution each year.
  • Paid vacation: 40 hours (one week) to start, plus an additional 2 hours accrued for each year of service
  • Paid holidays: Six per year
  • Four-day work week: a three-day weekend, every week
