Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
This full time, exempt position is responsible for electrical design engineering of electrical carbon products, bearing protection systems and associated parts manufactured by Helwig Carbon Products, Inc.:
  • Contribute to new and inventive products that complement the current production offerings.
  • Contribute to new products associated with shaft grounding systems and measurement and monitoring systems.
  • Design and development of test stands for electric motors, grounding systems and sliding electrical contacts.
  • Work on PLC programming and LabVIEW as needed.
  • Program, trouble shoot and repair circuit boards as required.
  • Participate in design review meetings and propose new designs. Collaborate with the team to ensure that product designs are standardized and manufacturable, and that all customer requirements are agreed upon and are incorporated into the design documents.
  • Track and document test orders on new product development projects.
  • Monitor designs, product specifications and detail drawings to ensure accuracy and timely production.
  • Work closely with Customers, Product Specialists, R & D staff, and sales representatives to determine the effectiveness of Helwig's products. Analyze electrical and operating conditions to develop recommendations to meet customer needs of optimal product performance, life, or cost.
  • Work in a cooperative and supportive manner with other management personnel to effectively address customer issues, internal non-conformances, and product returns. Work with Production Management, Industrial Engineering, and Quality to develop and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, and controls that support electrical carbons and associated part product technologies and established customer specifications.
  • Create and encourage an environment that fosters open communication and encourages individuals and teams to collaborate in a professional manner to meet and exceed goals and internal and external customer expectations.
  • Improve old designs for design and make manufacturing improvements.
  • Perform other functions as needed or required to meet Company Goals.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience
