Job description

Job Overview

Hubbell is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on 3D printer technician to support engineering and manufacturing efforts. This role involves the preparation, operation, and maintenance of industrial grade 3D printers, running post process and finishing equipment and maintaining process documentation. The ideal candidate has familiarity with additive manufacturing processes (ideally DLP, SLS, and/or MJF), strong troubleshooting skills, and is skilled in workshop finishing processes.  

This is a hands-on job,ensuring high-quality output and innovative solutions for ouradditivemanufacturing processes.We are an entrepreneurial team building a new manufacturing facility and as such everyone is expected to wear multiple hats. We are looking for someone who excels in a dynamic role, effectively balancing multiple responsibilitiesin addition to3D printer operation,such ashelpingin the quality lab, shipping/receiving,andgeneral manufacturing where needed. 

***Please note - this is an Hourly position in our Wilmington, MA location***

A Day In The Life
  • Operate large-format photopolymer (DLP) and polymer powder bed (SLS) 3D printers, including post-processing (support removal, selective curing, surface finishing, ceramic spraying), and raw material handling of polymer powders and resins.  
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of printers, furnaces, and related equipment; coordinate with suppliers for upgrades and repairs.  
  • Inspect printed parts for critical dimensions and surface quality using precision tools (e.g., calipers, gauge pins/blocks, 3D scanners, optical comparators, profilometers, hardness testers); generate detailed inspection reports.  
  • Follow the manufacturing schedule closely by setting daily priorities and adhering to production plans to ensure timely product delivery, even under tight deadlines. 
  • Conduct incoming inspection of raw materials to verify quality and conformance to specifications.  
  • Maintain accurate documentation of builds, machine performance, maintenance activities, process parameters, and standard operating procedures.  
  • Support part assembly for production and assist with shipping, receiving, and scheduling to ensure efficient material flow and timely deliveries.  
  • Promote and maintain a safe, organized manufacturing environment and equipment.  
  • Adhere to all local and corporate safety protocols; proactively identify and address unsafe conditions using Stop Work Authority.  
  • Wear required PPE to perform critical duties, including PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator), Tyvek suits, foot protection, gloves, and safely lift items up to 35 lbs. 
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • High school diploma or vocational training with at least 1-2 years of 3D printing experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret dimensioned drawings and CAD models. Knowledge of GD&T preferred. 
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Materialise Magics/CO-AM). 
  • Experience with spray coating (e.g. Cerakote) is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and equipment is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Results-oriented, comfortable with uncertainty, and able to work quickly while following established processes.
