AXIS ENGINEERING- Mechanical Designer II
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the Company's mission, vision, values, and goals in the performance of daily activities.
• Creates designs for new and/or improved detail parts and assemblies for automotive structural components, frames, and associated components.
• Work with the project team to develop designs that fit the vehicle package and meet or exceed the performance targets specified by the customer promptly.
• Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals, along with identifying key measures to support the departmental goals.
• Designs projects for new and improved designs for automobile structural members, modules, and associated components.
• Supports the design process among engineers with model designs and analysis.
• Works to improve standards and best practices.
• Assures quality compliance in both design and structural characteristics.
• Support weekly program Tech Reviews.
• Participates in the design process, evaluating durability and other features to meet manufacturing requirements.
• Works with team to meet goals and deadlines.
• Pursues optimization of design methods.
• Verify component changes.
• Understands GD&T drawings and can recommend improvements.
• Assist in creating and updating BOM's.
• Maintain the Design open issues log.
• Responsible for adhering to all internal and OSHA-required safety procedures in performing daily work activities.
• Managing meetings, comfortable with contacting suppliers, and working with outside vendors and design houses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two-year college or technical school; or a one to four years related experience and/or training
• Knowledge of design standards in automobile structures and suspension systems.
• CAD, GD&T, and other software understanding.
• AutoDesk Inventor experience is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience with modeling techniques and drawing standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
• Ability to convey technical details to a non-technical audience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
