We are committed to investing in our people and providing opportunities to build long-term careers on a strong foundation.
This position is office-based, 5 days per week, and will support our drafting and operations teams in producing accurate as-built drawings and project documentation. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining exposure to industry standards, utility design practices, and drafting tools.
High-performing interns may be considered for a full-time opportunity with NPL Construction upon completion of the internship, based on performance, business need, and overall alignment.
What You'll Do

  • Work with field notes including coordinates, fittings, and gas system designations to ensure accuracy in final drawings
  • Collaborate with operations and field teams to clarify drawing details and ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Learn and apply gas utility drafting standards, safety considerations, and documentation practices
  • Maintain organized digital files and support documentation workflows

What You'll Have
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Drafting, Construction Management, or a related field

  • Exposure to reading civil or utility plan drawings is preferred, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and drafting work
  • Ability to follow direction and learn quickly in a structured environment
  • Comfort working with annotated PDFs, field notes, and technical documentation
  • Interest in utility construction, infrastructure, or civil design
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to grow within the organization

What You'll Get
  • Hands-on, real-world experience with a leading utility construction company
  • Direct exposure to field operations, drafting standards, and infrastructure projects
  • Mentorship and training from experienced professionals in the industry
  • Opportunity to build foundational skills in CAD drafting within a utility environment
  • A pathway to a full-time career with NPL Construction, including eligibility for full-time benefits upon hire, based on performance and business needs

Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily in a typical indoor office environment, Monday through Friday
  • Position is in-office 5 days per week with a structured schedule
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours or stay late when necessary based on project needs, with limited notice
  • Regular use of a computer and drafting software; must be able to read technical documents and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Mobility required within office settings, with occasional exposure to warehouse or construction site environments for project familiarity
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds

Legal Stuff
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
