Job description:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Operations to lead and optimize end-to-end operational performance across the organization. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, efficient, and profitable movement of vehicles while aligning operational execution with company strategy, financial goals, and customer expectations.

The Director of Operations will oversee cross-functional teams and provide leadership across regional operations, safety, quality, fleet maintenance, network planning, business development, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with a proven ability to drive continuous improvement, establish operational discipline, and enhance overall business performance in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Proven leadership experience overseeing multi-site or regional operations within transportation, logistics, fleet, or related operational environments.
  • Strong ability to lead, mentor, and hold management teams accountable for operational performance and results.
  • Experience managing operational KPIs including safety, service levels, cost control, utilization, claims, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state transportation compliance regulations.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency, service delivery, and cost performance.
  • Experience overseeing fleet maintenance strategies, preventative maintenance programs, vendor management, and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Ability to analyze operational performance data and implement process improvements to drive productivity and profitability.
  • Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills with the ability to align operations with corporate objectives.
  • Experience supporting or leading business development initiatives, market expansion efforts, and strategic partnerships.
  • Knowledge of network planning, route optimization, and capacity utilization preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience within the vehicle transportation industry required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site or regional operations required.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and fleet-based operations required.
  • Experience in vehicle logistics preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage senior-level managers required.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L oversight and cost management required.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 15% as needed.
  • Auto transportation knowledge preferred.
