Job description

At Absolute Auto, Port Matilda we are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Entry-Level Automotive Mechanic to join our growing team. This role is ideal for recent automotive trade school graduates or individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude looking to start a career in the automotive repair industry. Youโ€™ll work alongside experienced technicians, learning diagnostic and repair skills on a variety of vehicle systems.
Requirements: Must have some auto repair knowledge. Can read and write. Able to perform simple tasks. Must have driver's license.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Keep the shop clean and organized, handle inventory and stock orders. Floor cleaning and sweeping.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire services, fluid checks, battery replacements, and filter replacements.
  • Assist technicians with more complex repairs such as brake jobs, suspension work, and engine diagnostics.
  • Learn to use diagnostic tools and software to identify vehicle issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Complete multi-point vehicle inspections under supervision.
  • Follow shop safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate clearly with team members and service staff.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of or current enrollment in an automotive technology program is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle systems and mechanical principles.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and good driving record.
