Base + Incentive:

This role is eligible for a competitive quarterly incentive based on individual and company performance.
The base salary offered within the posted range will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

In this role, you will...

Be responsible for evaluating and underwriting Direct Auto loan applications; providing decisions on a timely basis and in compliance with company lending policies and guidelines. Support the Direct Auto Manager and work directly with branch employees to ensure efficient and accurate loan processing.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review, analyze, and underwrite Direct Auto applications using sound judgment and company guidelines in the decision-making process.
  • Assist Branch employees with negotiation of loans based on internal lending guidelines, fair lending practices, and the ECOA (Equal Credit Opportunity Act).
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial and personal information.
  • Review financial statements, credit reports, applicable debt ratios, and loan-to-value ratios in order to make credit decisions that mitigate future risk for the company.
  • Communicate in a style and manner that develops and maintains a strong business relationship with all contacts.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all loan applications, decisions, and communications as per company policies and regulations.
  • Underwrite other loan products as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Strictly comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and provisions of states in which Mariner operates.
  • Follow policies and procedures of the company. Stay informed of updates to company lending policy and promptly implement applicable changes.
  • May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (or two (2) years of college course work); additional, applicable years of experience may be substituted for an associate’s degree.
  • Experience working in a professional/customer service setting with demonstrated success meeting deadlines.
  • Professional, customer-focused, and results-oriented attitude with the ability to effectively problem-solve, analyze, and use data to make informed decisions.
  • Highly-motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Solution-based communication style with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively, verbally and in writing, with customers, vendors, third parties, and all levels of company staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and prioritize tasks effectively to complete assigned duties and functions in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn financial services programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience in consumer lending or financial services and/or underwriting experience.

Hours of Work:

Monday through Friday. Saturday hours required seasonally and as business needs require. Work hours will depend on the business hours of the time zone serviced.

To the extent permitted by law, the Company may, in its sole discretion, change the work schedule to address business need.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to move about. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
