Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Personal Auto Underwriter to join our Underwriting team. In this role, you will support the underwriting process by reviewing and processing personal auto policies, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and providing outstanding service to agents and policyholders.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by providing timely responses to agents and policyholders regarding quotes, endorsements, renewals, and policy inquiries.
  • Review, enter, and process new business submissions, endorsements, and renewals.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of personal auto coverages, underwriting guidelines, rating plans, exposures, and state requirements.
  • Order and review underwriting reports to support risk evaluation and policy decisions.
  • Assist with underwriting activities related to new business, endorsements, and renewals.
  • Complete Financial Responsibility Filings and other regulatory documentation.
  • Prepare policy documents and system-generated correspondence for distribution.
  • Support department projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new underwriting team members on systems and underwriting procedures.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Personal Auto Insurance.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to obtain a Property & Casualty license by successfully passing state-required examinations.
  • Accurate typing and data entry skills with a minimum speed of 30 WPM.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Active Property & Casualty License.
  • Experience using online underwriting systems.
  • Knowledge of personal auto underwriting practices and insurance regulations.
