Originations Systems Engineer I - Canada

Position Summary

The Originations Business Systems Engineer I, is responsible for the independent design, configuration, and implementation of solutions within the enterprise Originations System. This role bridges the gap between business operations and technical architecture, translating complex functional requirements into executable business rules, automated workflows, and system logic. Operating within an Agile framework, the Originations BSE I, ensures system stability through proactive troubleshooting, partner integration support, and meticulous documentation of technical configurations to meet both operational goals and regulatory compliance standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and implement features include business rules, credit/funding logic, automated workflows, and user interface enhancements in the assigned loan originations system.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements from stakeholders to design effective technical system solutions.
  • Manage configuration changes and updates with minimal supervision, conducting thorough validation and testing to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolve moderately complex system issues and production bugs, collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors when system limitations are identified.
  • Maintain precise records of system configurations, change requests, and code reviews to ensure alignment with operational standards.
  • Proven experience leading small-scale system configuration projects or specific feature enhancements within a sprint cycle.
  • Experience coordinating with external system vendors to resolve non-configurable software limitations.
Required Experience

Qualifications and Competencies Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Credit or Funding within the auto finance lending industry.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Systems Engineer, Rules Developer or Configurations Analyst (or similar).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Advanced analytical ability to architect complex calculations, business rules, and decision logic within a Loan Origination System (LOS).
  • Proficiency in visual process mapping and technical writing to document intricate system configurations and workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a high-level technical intermediary between business stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams.
  • Intermediate experience utilizing JIRA or comparable project management tools to manage tasks within an Agile/Scrum framework.
Education
  • Bachelor's or 4-year college degree in business/information technology, or a combination of experience.
Additional Requirements
  • Overtime Required: As required on an as needed basis.
  • Travel: 0-10% as required on an as needed basis.
Location Requirement

Must have reliable transportation and live within a commutable distance to one of the following cities:

  • Atlanta, GA
  • Houston, TX
  • Phoenix, AZ
Qualifications Preferred
  • Previous Team Lead experience within a Credit or Funding department in the auto finance industry is a plus.
  • Experience working on a team responsible for configuring and supporting technology platforms used in Canadian auto lending, with an understanding of vehicle finance processes, business rules, system configuration, and lending workflows.
  • Foundational understanding of API protocols, schema implementation, and interface techniques for third-party service integrations is preferred.

Work Schedule
