Personal Auto Bodily Injury (BI) Claims Adjuster

Pay Range: $60,000- $75,000 Per Year. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.

Onward Insurance, a Knight Insurance Company, specializes in private passenger auto coverage for standard and non-standard drivers throughout California. We are seeking a Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster to join our growing California claims operation.

This role is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving bodily injury claims. We are seeking an adjuster with BI experience or a strong PD adjuster looking to advance into bodily injury claim handling.

What You'll Do as a Personal Auto Bodily Injury (BI) Claims Adjuster:

  • Manage a dedicated inventory of personal auto bodily injury claims
  • Investigate liability, causation, and damages
  • Review medical records and supporting injury documentation
  • Establish and maintain appropriate reserves
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants and attorneys
  • Analyze liability and comparative negligence issues under California law
  • Draft Large Loss Reports for high exposure claims
  • Intake and summarize lawsuits Coordinate to retain defense counsel when necessary
  • Handle and monitor litigated claims
  • Attend mediations as needed
  • Identify subrogation opportunities and SIU referrals when appropriate
  • Maintain accurate claim documentation and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

What do we look for in our Personal Auto Bodily Injury (BI) Claims Adjuster?

  • 1–3+ years of personal auto claims experience
  • Bodily Injury claims experience preferred
  • Property Damage adjusters seeking advancement into BI are encouraged to apply
  • California claims handling experience preferred
  • Strong investigation, negotiation, and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage claim inventory independently
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and claims management systems
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus

Work Arrangement

This is a primarily in-office position located in Los Angeles. Following successful completion of training and demonstrated performance, employees may be eligible for up to one work-from-home day per week, subject to business needs and manager approval. Candidates should be comfortable working onsite the majority of the workweek.
